Modern, and full of joy. A coastal wedding bursting with color, personality, and good food.
Cali and Luke knew exactly what they wanted their wedding to feel like: warm, fun, whimsical, and unapologetically full of color. The result was a late September celebration at Straus Home Ranch on the Northern California coast that was equal parts breathtaking and joyful, modern and sculptural in design, but with a wildness and personality that made every moment feel completely alive.
Perched along Tomales Bay, Straus Home Ranch has a way of making everything feel expansive and grounded all at once. With its wide open fields, pastoral charm, and that particular salty coastal light, the venue gave Cali and Luke the perfect backdrop for a celebration that was anything but ordinary. The weekend began the night before at Olema House, a relaxed and beautiful rehearsal dinner that set the tone for the joy to come.

If there was ever a wedding palette that had a personality, this was it. The design was built on a base of wild lime and lavender orchid, then layered with secondary colors of tangerine, flowering cherry, and marigold orange, and finished with deep magenta and vibrant violet for depth and drama. Warm, rich, and completely unexpected, it was the kind of color story that feels bold on paper and absolutely electric in person.
We brought it to life with florals that were modern, saturated, sculptural, and funky, featuring specialty varieties like amaranthus, alliums, orchids, anthuriums, calla lilies, and textured greenery including smilax, jasmine vine, and bells of Ireland. Fruit, vegetables, moss, and grasses were woven throughout the arrangements, an earthy, playful counterpoint to all that saturated color.
The tabletop rental selections leaned perfectly into the aesthetic: warm farmhouse wooden tables dressed with blue gingham linen, crystal glassware, vintage-style silver flatware, enamel plates, and striped ticking napkins. Casual and charming, but with just enough detail to feel special.

The ceremony was framed by a stunning chuppah installation, four floral pieces, two large and two medium, that felt as if they were reaching toward each other across the structure. Wild greenery and natural vines created the organic base, while florals in lavender orchid, tangerine, flowering cherry, and marigold orange spilled and draped across the top. Accent arrangements in deep magenta and vibrant violet added moments of surprise and drama. Aisle markers dotted every other row, wild and organic, finishing with pops of statement color that made the walk to the altar feel like moving through a living garden.
After the ceremony, guests moved into cocktail hour with drinks sourced from Willibees and poured by Girl and the Fig alongside sculptural floral arrangements in stoneware and ikebana-style vases, each one filled with dripping greenery and textural statement flowers. Hog Island Oyster added a distinctly coastal touch, setting the perfect scene for that golden hour on the bay.
Dinner came courtesy of Girl and the Fig, whose seasonal Northern California cooking felt right at home in the coastal ranch setting. Tables were scattered with clusters of bud vases at varying heights, a mix of statement florals and wild textural greenery interspersed with colored taper candles and fruit, designed to feel less like centerpieces and more like living works of art. The head table featured a continuous arrangement of ceramic bowls and shallow vessels that flowed down the table like one long, artful installation.
The Dart Collective kept the energy high and the dance floor full well into the evening, exactly the kind of night Cali and Luke had envisioned.

A wedding this colorful, considered, and joyful takes a truly great team. So much gratitude to everyone who helped make Cali and Luke’s day everything it was:
