CELEBRATION AT DAWN RANCH
A funky, vintage-inspired garden party with martinis, color, and a whole lot of soul
Sara and Jesse knew from the start they didn’t want a cookie-cutter wedding. Their goal? To throw a celebration that felt like a natural extension of themselves, a little funky, deeply personal, and bursting with color, laughter, and martinis. Inspired by vintage garden parties and laid-back dinner parties at home, their wedding at Dawn Ranch was effortlessly cool, deeply meaningful, and wildly fun.
Nestled in the redwoods along the Russian River, Dawn Ranch gave Sara and Jesse exactly what they wanted: natural beauty, nostalgic camp vibes, and a place that felt both elevated and totally unpretentious. With the Bay Area as their shared home base before a recent move to New York, it only made sense to return to a place that held meaning and plenty of magic, for their wedding weekend.
The celebration kicked off with a river float at Johnson’s Beach, where friends floated lazily in the sunshine, sipping drinks and snacking on sandwiches from Lazzini’s Market. The mood was relaxed, joyful, and totally them, a perfect preview of what was to come.
The design centered around Sara’s favorite colors, chartreuse and orange, woven into a base of linen, crushed stone, and natural woods. The result was a fresh, playful take on 1970s tones: warm, whimsical, and full of personality. Florals by Full Bloom Flower Farm brought the vision to life with wild, garden-style arrangements full of texture and unexpected color pairings, manzanilla olive, sunglow yellow, and vivid pops of citrus that made every corner feel joyful.
The aesthetic was elevated but approachable, layered with custom hand-drawn signage and artwork created by Jesse (the groom) himself. From the welcome signs to the bar menu to seating charts, every piece felt personal and intentional, adding depth and character to the space in a way only the couple could pull off.

This wasn’t your typical wedding flow and that’s exactly what made it unforgettable.
After a heartfelt ceremony beneath the redwood trees, the celebration jumped straight into a pre-dinner dance party (yes, before dinner), skipping the first dance and going all in on the collective joy. The Lucky Devils Band brought the energy, and the crowd matched it with moves and martinis in hand, just as Sara and Jesse had envisioned.
Once the energy settled into that golden hour glow, guests made their way to the dinner tables, where Dawn Ranch’s in-house culinary team served a meal that felt like the best version of a relaxed dinner party, seasonal, satisfying, and designed for long conversations. The cake by A Little Luster was a sweet, unfussy finish: beautiful, personal, and paired perfectly with one last cocktail.
Albany Katz Photography captured every candid laugh and quiet moment with a warm, editorial lens, while Content by Audra documented the weekend’s energy on film, creating a final story that feels as vibrant and genuine as the couple themselves.

This wedding was only possible because of the incredible team of artists and pros who understood Sara and Jesse’s vision from the jump. A huge shoutout to this dream team:
From dancing before dinner to the colorful florals, custom artwork, martini clinks, and camp-like joy of floating on the river the day before, Sara and Jesse’s wedding didn’t just look like them, it felt like them. Funky, warm, intentional, and one hell of a good time.
