A coastal weekend of art deco elegance, heartfelt moments, and unforgettable celebration
When Kristen and Richard envisioned their wedding day, they imagined something deeply personal, elegant and warm, rooted in nature, with a few playful, artful surprises along the way. What came to life was a weekend that beautifully reflected who they are: lovers of design, music, food, and connection. With Spring Ranch in Mendocino as their backdrop, their September wedding was a masterclass in balance, refined but relaxed, soulful but fun, and full of thoughtful, personal touches.
Perched above the Pacific and framed by pastoral meadows and cypress trees, Spring Ranch provided the perfect canvas for Kristen and Richard’s weekend. The couple wanted a space that felt both grounding and inspiring, and this windswept stretch of Northern California coastline delivered.
Guests arrived to the rustle of coastal grasses, warm golden light, and a sense of calm anticipation. With its restored barns, historic charm, and raw natural beauty, the venue set the tone for a celebration that felt intimate, intentional, and anchored in place.

Kristen and Richard’s design drew inspiration from organic forms and midcentury style with just the right touch of art deco drama. The base palette featured creams, sands, and warm tans, layered with aged brass, warm wood, and rich textures to add depth and soul.
To bring it to life, Three Summer Days created florals that were architectural yet whimsical. Think sculptural arrangements in deep forest green, smokey topaz, antique yarrow, with soft ivory blooms and golden mustard accents. Everything felt both grounded and imaginative, just like the couple.
While the barn framed the property beautifully, dinner took place outdoors, with guests seated at bare wooden tables that perfectly complemented the natural surroundings. Long greenery flowed down the center of each table, punctuated by tall taper candles in white and deep green, a subtle nod to the couple’s modern, elegant palette. The setting was elevated but unfussy, with the soft flicker of candlelight blending seamlessly into the magic of the coastal evening.
The weekend was full of unexpected moments and intentional design, beginning with a Welcome Party Pub Quiz, a joyful, light-hearted evening where guests teamed up to answer trivia all about the couple, setting the tone for the fun to come.
On the wedding day itself, Kristen and Richard honored family traditions with a Chinese tea ceremony, creating space to slow down and connect with loved ones before the larger celebration began. Later that afternoon, they exchanged vows with the rugged Mendocino coastline as their witness.
Cocktail hour featured curated drinks from Mendocino Outland Bartending, with music by Precise Blend providing a smooth, soulful soundtrack as the sun dipped low.
Dinner, prepared by Pilon Kitchen, celebrated the bounty of Northern California and Richard’s Cuban heritage with seasonal and latin shareable dishes. Guests lingered over their plates, the evening air filled with laughter and candlelight, before heading to the barn-turned-dancefloor for the next chapter of the celebration.
As night fell and the tempo picked up, Kristen and Richard shared their first dance, and then the party truly began. With Precise Blend leading the charge, the barn pulsed with energy as guests danced late into the night.
For dessert, the couple skipped the traditional tiered cake in favor of their favorite treat: a berry chantilly cake, light, fresh, and sweet, just like the day itself.
