A SPRING CELEBRATION AT STRAUS HOME RANCH
A coastal weekend full of joy, great music, and personal touches
When Jenny and Ian started dreaming up their wedding, they wanted something that felt true to them, easygoing, joyful, and full of the colors and energy of spring. They landed on Straus Home Ranch, one of their favorite spots along the Northern California coast, and planned a weekend that brought together their people, their favorite traditions, and a whole lot of good food, music, and fun.
THE SETTING: STRAUS HOME RANCH
Straus Home Ranch, tucked along Tomales Bay, offered the perfect laid-back backdrop for their May wedding. Surrounded by wide open fields, rustic barns, and the salty breeze off the water, the venue had that mix of comfort and charm they were looking for.
It felt like a natural extension of what they wanted the weekend to be, grounded, a little coastal, and all about bringing people together in a beautiful place.

THE LOOK & FEEL: ORGANIC, COLORFUL, AND UNFUSSY
The design for the day leaned into springtime: fresh, bright, and not too polished. The color palette mixed warm pinks, cherry blossom, honey, orange spice, and mossy greens, soft tones with just enough pop to feel festive.
Gather and Kin created florals that felt full of movement and life, like they’d just been picked from a wild garden. Tables were kept simple and natural, with linen textures, candles, and arrangements that added color without feeling too styled. It all came together in a way that felt easy and warm, just like the couple.

THE CELEBRATION: MEANINGFUL MOMENTS & A GREAT PARTY
The weekend kicked off with a casual welcome party, a chance for guests to settle in, share a drink, and soak up the setting.
Jenny and Ian brought in little touches that made the day feel personal. They buried a bottle of bourbon on the property ahead of time (a Southern tradition said to bring good weather), and dug it up together at cocktail hour. It was a lighthearted, fun moment that felt just right.
Signature cocktails reflected their personalities: a martini for Jenny, a paper plane for Ian. Guests sipped and mingled around an oyster and white wine bar before heading into dinner.
And then came the music. The Blue Beat Review Quartet, led by Quinn DeVeaux, brought the house down with their bluesy, soulful sound. The vibe was relaxed but full of energy, everyone dancing, laughing, just really present in the moment.

THE TEAM THAT MADE IT HAPPEN
It takes a great team to pull off a day that feels this effortless. We were lucky to work with such a talented and thoughtful group:
From the buried bourbon to the blues band, and all the little in-between moments, Jenny and Ian’s wedding was the kind of day that just felt good, bright, easy, and full of heart.
